A May Update

A new favorite from the sandbox.

In other Sullivan news, he now LOVES to tell the dog "Off!", which is a training command we frequently try to employ with our beagle Burling (with varying degrees of success). Sullivan especially seems to enjoy telling Burling "Off!" when he has, say, stolen a dog toy of Burling's that he'd like to keep for himself.

Sullivan also loves feeding the ducks and seagulls at pond at the Palace of Fine Arts near our house, although he often holds out the bread towards the birds and then ends up deciding to eat it himself.

Although he's been walking holding onto things for quite a while, only recently has he begun really pushing things like his wagon and his rolling lion across the floor while walking behind them. The look of pride on his face while he does this (and frustration when he runs into things) is priceless.

He can actually stand quite well on his own, but absolutely does not trust himself to do it. The second he realizes he's unsupported he makes his way to the floor as quickly as possible. We think this may have something to do with the fact that he is a bit top-heavy.

To prove our point: At the doctor on Wednesday we learned that Sullivan now ranks in the 30th percentile for height, the 55th for weight, and the 90th for head circumference. When I asked the doctor how a kid who looks like such a bruiser (the doctor agreed with this assessment) could only be in the 55th percentile for weight, he said, "It's all in the cheeks!"

And thank goodness for those cheeks. We shower them with kisses each and every day.

  2. His Oma did not nickname him Sweet Cheeks, along with The Little Prince, early on for nothing! :)
